A craving for empanadas & beer that helped to make my life whole

A craving for empanadas & beer that helped to make my life whole

Struggling to see my monitor with the vibrant light of the sun blinding me as it begins to set over the rooftops. I hit mental roadblocks in adding to this blog when too many topics cross my mind; Life, learnings, friendship, quotes, love, sadness and my journey exploring the Human Element. A rollercoaster of a Sunday, two friends added rich context to the fragile nature of life, and in response to the warp speed of life my adopted mom said "Yes it does. Never realized it when I was 36[…]
An Apology to the Sun, God Moments, Day In The Life

An Apology to the Sun, God Moments, Day In The Life

The long haul flight boredom helped me discover the sitcom Jane the Virgin. For those who have not watched the series, the name may perplex you. The show about a mistake impregnating has light humor and enjoyable moments when Jane’s imagination takes over. A snippet of a short sponsored by Wells Fargo aired on TV which I curiously went online to see the complete version. Wells Fargo? This is an ad campaign with Wells Fargo sewn throughout but, I was wrong. For those on my Facebook, I have highli[…]

The perfect piece of art, a song, and a napkin #MondayMotivation #Music #theHumanElement

Over the weekend Nick and I stumbled upon Sugarboo & Co at Town Brookhaven. I entered the store and froze, gazing at a piece of art while a song (Spotify: Heartbeats; Jose Gonzalez ) hit my heart giving me a sense of calm. A minute... or two passed, unaware of the price I grabbed the art and gave it to the employee to purchase it. This store has incredible things, all unique, many intricate things that you cannot find anywhere else. This new addition to the house needed to be in the heart of[…]
Need a Puzzle! 1000 Piece Jigsaw, Operation, Jenga, Rubix Cube?

Need a Puzzle! 1000 Piece Jigsaw, Operation, Jenga, Rubix Cube?

Walking the toy aisle doesn’t resemble my time as a kid, picking out the right puzzle. The electronic gaming ushered a different experience, engaging with others yet more solo. I have been giving thought to my life over the past month, being quiet in my posts and hopping off social media briefly. What does my life resemble most to me? 1000 Piece Puzzle - Immediately out of the box I am overwhelmed by the number of pieces. ,Similar colors in the photo, unsure where to begin. I can build the frame[…]
Lonely lamp lit night wanting someone to stay with me #music #samsmith

Lonely lamp lit night wanting someone to stay with me #music #samsmith

More often I find myself entering a bubble lit by a lantern, which I can control the brightness and extinguish when ready. The flickering light surrounds the room, shadows appear in corners. Collectively what I see around me, and feel inside, I think deep into my heart and ask. Stay with Me. Think about past lovers, potential lovers, and moments when you wished you weren’t alone. The differences between the pursuit of lust over love, and people being honest with what they truly seek out. .... “S[…]
Plane Watching at #DTW “Do they talk to each other?”

Plane Watching at #DTW “Do they talk to each other?”

Returning from the Auto Show in Detroit, we experienced two mechanicals on Delta. We took advantage of our Sky Club membership, used the wifi and plane watched. Detroit has a myriad of equipment type, from the B744->A333->MD88->MD90->B777, but alas my favorite, the 757-200 and 757-300. This particular night of a three hour delay, I began to ask the juvenile questions that I have for sometime while plane watching. @NickUK can attest to my fascination for 30 minutes staring aimlessly a[…]
Trust me, on the Sunscreen; Does History Repeat Itself?

Trust me, on the Sunscreen; Does History Repeat Itself?

Quote someone shared "those who fail to study history are forced to repeat it. Those who do study history are forced to sit helplessly as they watch others around them repeat it" #true The conversation brought the Everybody's Free (to where sunscreen) song to mind. I looked into a bit of the history of the words and found it to be more rich then just lyrics created for a song. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wear_Sunscreen[…]
Quote: Life; A Flash, A Breath, A Shadow, A Sunset

Quote: Life; A Flash, A Breath, A Shadow, A Sunset

"What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset."     - Crowfoot, Blackfoot Warrior - http://hiatus4life.com/ Thanks to a good friend for sharing this one --- my love of quote remains ever so strong.  --- Reflecting back when I enjoyed living in the land of Aloha.  Enjoying the sounds of the waves in Honolulu.   Enjoying […]
A Retrospective Look at 9/11, Eleven years later

A Retrospective Look at 9/11, Eleven years later

Enjoying Helen today and as it approaches to 1am, I have spent a few minutes of time reflecting on that day in history, 9/11. A day that for our generation will be paramount similar to where were you during Pearl Harbor or when JFK was shot. No doubt you remember where you were when you heard the news, but my story I often try not to think about as it all seems too surreal to fathom. My good friend is a flight attendant for United Airlines, at the time we had all plans to visit NYC, explore the […]
