Friday night Netflix: Bridegroom, previously debuted at Tribeca Film Festival

Friday night Netflix: Bridegroom, previously debuted at Tribeca Film Festival

January 17, 2014
Watched Bridegroom on Netflix (streaming = free) this evening after hearing a bit about it from colleagues and remember the youtube video that started it. Bill Clinton introduced Bridegroom at the Tribeca Film Festival. This is really -- on one level -- a wonderful, sad, heartbreaking yet exhilarating and life affirming story, and on another level it's a story about our nation's struggle to make one more step in forming a more perfect union, for which marriage is both the symbol and substance," […]
2014: New Year’s Revelations (Yes, you read that correctly)

2014: New Year’s Revelations (Yes, you read that correctly)

January 14, 2014
According to good ole urbandictionary.com , New Year's Revelation is defined as:   While those definitions may be amusing, I do believe they highlight how resolutions ultimately fail. In reflecting back in 2012, my resolution was - " Resolution – 2012 – Keep It Simple – Remove the Noise " . I was able to tackle the distractions in life to be more productive, less attached to social media, and more attuned to my surroundings. You may wonder, why am I say Revelation versus Resolution. Last we[…]
Flight up to grab dinner in Asheville and a bottle if wine

Flight up to grab dinner in Asheville and a bottle if wine

January 12, 2014
Received a phone call from Randy asking if I had interest in a $100 hamburger. A short 2 hours later, we were airborne up to Asheville from PDK. The weather was crisp, the plane had a great climb rate, and we arrived in around 55 minutes which is normally a 3 hour drive. A wonderful day to support today's New Year Revalation - Share spontaneity. --- If you look just to the right of the main prop blade showing, that is Biltmore Mansion.   Landmark has officially moved in Asheville.  Note - s[…]
Trust me, on the Sunscreen; Does History Repeat Itself?

Trust me, on the Sunscreen; Does History Repeat Itself?

August 24, 2013
Quote someone shared "those who fail to study history are forced to repeat it. Those who do study history are forced to sit helplessly as they watch others around them repeat it" #true The conversation brought the Everybody's Free (to where sunscreen) song to mind. I looked into a bit of the history of the words and found it to be more rich then just lyrics created for a song. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wear_Sunscreen[…]
Quote: Life; A Flash, A Breath, A Shadow, A Sunset

Quote: Life; A Flash, A Breath, A Shadow, A Sunset

March 8, 2013
"What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset."     - Crowfoot, Blackfoot Warrior - http://hiatus4life.com/ Thanks to a good friend for sharing this one --- my love of quote remains ever so strong.  --- Reflecting back when I enjoyed living in the land of Aloha.  Enjoying the sounds of the waves in Honolulu.   Enjoying […]
A Retrospective Look at 9/11, Eleven years later

A Retrospective Look at 9/11, Eleven years later

September 11, 2012
Enjoying Helen today and as it approaches to 1am, I have spent a few minutes of time reflecting on that day in history, 9/11. A day that for our generation will be paramount similar to where were you during Pearl Harbor or when JFK was shot. No doubt you remember where you were when you heard the news, but my story I often try not to think about as it all seems too surreal to fathom. My good friend is a flight attendant for United Airlines, at the time we had all plans to visit NYC, explore the […]
“31 Minutes to Take Off”, how Flying Evokes Emotion in me

“31 Minutes to Take Off”, how Flying Evokes Emotion in me

July 14, 2011
While preparing dinner last night, Slacker popped up the album 31 Minutes to Take Off by Mike Posner. The song of the cover is only 53 seconds but what grabbed me was the album cover. Sitting on a plane at sunset, no one next to you, seat in front of you, and bound for wherever the jet is going to touch down. Whenever it is close to take off, I still get the feeling of excitement. The plane pushing back from the gate, being cleared to taxi, and finally rolling down the runway. Looking out the sm[…]
